(AKAI MPC2000)
Up for grabs is an MPC2000 boot disk and sample pack inspired by y00ts NFT collection! The sample pack is an actual MPC disk and comes in SND format for loading into the MPC and WAV format for compatibility with the SP404 or Koala Sampler. The Artwork contains y00t #11490 owned by bootdiskandchill.
The sample pack contains elements of BDP's "The Bridge is Over" (a tongue-in-cheek Solana-Polygon-Ethereum reference)

MPC2000 beat makers - check out The Ultimate MPC2000 SD card!
If you are tired of slow and unreliable floppies or outdated ZIP disks, now is the time to upgrade to a modern ZuluSCSI hard drive emulator. Emulation devices for data storage are blazingly fast, even on the vintage MPC2000.
The SD card is pre-loaded with tons of vintage MPC2000 programs, the MPC factory library, and the OS, making boot-up near instant. Plus, ZuluSCSI emulates up to 7 SCSI devices, so you have plenty of space to store all your samples and sequences, and you can load ISOs of sample CDs on your SD card!
To use the emulator, plug it into the SCSI port on the back of the MPC while the machine is off. Then, power up the MPC to boot with the device. You can even hot-swap SD cards when not using the disk!
The SD card comes in Akai format - just like a sample CD - and is already set up with partitions that contain library disks, sequences, demos, and standard sets from the MPC60, 3000, 2000, and 2000XL. Perfect if you are into retro and lo-fi sounds.

The smell inside was strong with age and old electricity, and I wondered about its past life. The broken sampler shipped in from a small shop in Japan, and I imagined it arranged in a window at night, flickering under neon, enticing the occasional glance from passersby. Or maybe it was sitting away from the window in shame, hiding its rough edges and scars, patina from a decade passed in the Tokyo Club scene.
It’s mid-90s silicon, still running and saving to floppy disks. There is something provocative about older gear that is hard to explain, especially when bringing it back to life as if the re-animation process creates a quantum connection between man and metal. Drum machines are surprisingly lovable in this way, and maybe they love you back for it a little. Sampling has always been on the cutting edge of sound, and the used market rewards sellers handsomely for gear that is current in maintenance and fully functional. Even the oldest sampling technology commands the highest prices today.
Abandoned by their previous owners in pawnshops and secondhand music stores worldwide, the bastard child of the MPC line is now being re-popularized by a new wave of artists and sound designers digging old tech. A technical generation of musicians and beat punks, making repairs and a few disks for the underappreciated yet undeniably classic MPC2000.
The rusty case cleaned up better than expected, and I kept the soft original rubber pads because they felt perfect. I replaced the switches, sensors, fuse, and disk drive on the old sampler from 1997, and it was ready for a test drive.
Hot-Rod Drum Machine! I pressed the power button, and the new screen lit up the dash in bright blue. LED lights flashed across the rusty chassis, and the floppy drive motor spun like an ancient growling stomach awakening from hibernation.
“Insert MPC2000 Disk !” it demanded.
The resurrection was complete, but I needed a boot disk.
Compatibility. The files created on the MPC2000 are compatible with almost any software or hardware instrument. The MIDI files can load into Ableton Live, and the WAV files are recognized universally. A newer MPC would not be backward compatible with the vintage models.
Accessibility. The MPC2000 costs less than any other vintage MPC or MIDI controller, and there is an almost unlimited supply in the wild. If someone wanted to pick one up to follow along with this project, it would not be a massive obstacle to overcome financially, and of course, all you need is MPC Beats software to load all of the files from this project for FREE!
Touchstone. The MPC2000 connects all facets of this project through community, commerce, and art.
